Brutus v7Beta01 released

Post  Stephan Vermeire (Brutus) on Sun Mar 29, 2009 12:07 am

Hi there,

It has been quite for a long time around Brutus, but this doesn't mean nothing has happened! Now it is finally there: The release of Brutus v7.

New in version 7:
  • Complete code rewrite! Started from scratch therefore ALL old bugs removes. (Probably did some rebugging too.... Wink )
  • Much cleaner code, compiles without warnings in MSVC.
  • Replaced multithreading by multi-PROCESSING. Up to 4 processors the new searchtime will be roughly: time/num_processors. You can set the number of processors to be used in the .ini-file.
  • Compatible with Nalimov EGTB (with kind permission of Eugene Nalimov and Andrew Kadatch).
  • New format of .ini file, the hashtable can be set by the enduser enableling to set an alternative path for openingbook, Nalimov EGTB-path.
  • Increased strength compared to Brutus v6.1.
  • As usual the source is included: All Brutus-code (except the egtb-code!) is available under the GNU-license.

Please don't hasitate to contact me if something isn't working properly on your PC. Therefore it is a beta! Download v7Beta01 at http://home.casema.nl/vermeire/brutus.html.

Enjoy,
Stephan Cool
