Re: 73rd test tourney result from Stavenisse....
Have you noticed that quite a few well known engines lost on time against Xpdnt. Could it be that Xpdnt rejected a move as illegal like it did in one of your other tournaments?

Hi Tony,
Below the cross table you can read:
"Problems found:
Schola lost some games on time, known and will be fixed!
Xpdnt "wins" a lot of games on time because it reject legal moves!!"

Re: 73rd test tourney result from Stavenisse....
Heracles 0.6.16 will not start at my Opteron with WinXP-x64!?
(configuration problem in the heracles executable says WinXP-x64)
Ditto.
Heracles 0.6.16 does not start on my WinXP-x64 and Vista-x64.
Dann's recent Toga II x64 compile too.
Installing vcredist_x64 for VC++ 2005 does not help.
best,

Franck told me there is a new executable now which should work!

I guess I was reading so fast, I skipped over it..I mainly looked at the pgn's and I didnt see any indication that you changed the results. Is David aware of this problem?

Thanks, Leo.
For Dann's Toga, installing vcredist_x64 for VC++ 2008 does help!

best,
Which version of Toga II did Dann compile? I tend to get lost with all the different versions of Toga floating about.

Thanks, Harun, for the link and the tip about the vcredist_x64 redistributable. I should have known to check Dann's own web site.

I did some testing of my own with Xpdnt. In my tests false illegal move claims only seem to occur with ponder on and also only when opponent makes a bishop move.
Jim.
Jim.
Xpdnt_080806 bad result claims
Hi,
I see you have discovered my new secret weapon for winning tournaments
Yes, something is broken, and it's a BUGger. I hope fixing it [if and when I find it] will not lose too many elo
Thanks Jim for that test. I too found the same thing. But the Bishop is new info. Great! The more clues the better.

Eureka!
I am currently running two 1000 game gauntlets to test, but I did find an interesting bug.
Sometimes, Xpdnt would choose one of the opponents moves as it's own ... which wrecked havoc on the internal board, later making certain moves seem illegal.
My 'MoveIsOK' test for hashmove and killers, neglected piece color. So once and a while, there was an opponents piece of like kind on a square, and an otherwise illegal move suggested, and X just ran with it ... "Looks good to me, ... that piece will move there!"
Now, how many elo is this gonna cost me?
Man! You might think moving the wrong pieces around would cost a few points. Chess programming is crazy!
