Brutus version 6.0 released
Brutus version 6.0 is out now!
New in version 6:
The all-in-one zipfile (including win32 and win64 version) can be downloaded at: http://home.casema.nl/vermeire/brutus.html
The source is included! Enjoy!
Stephan
New in version 6:
- Support for dual-core processor
- Improved pondering. Brutus now chooses one move and replies immediatly if it gambled correctly.
- wider time-support. Fixed-time games, incremental time, seconds-per move etc. All working now!
- separate Brutus.ini-file which can be used to set the size of the hashtables.
- Nalimov EGTB. I would like to thank Eugene Nalimov and Andrew Kadatch for granting permission to use their superior endgame tablebases!
The all-in-one zipfile (including win32 and win64 version) can be downloaded at: http://home.casema.nl/vermeire/brutus.html

Brutus in ChessGUI
Hi Stephan,
Brutus 6.0 is the first Brutus that works with incremental time control in ChessGUI.
If this time control is lacking in previous versions, can you consider fixing that ?
Thanks,
Matthias.

fixing the timecontrol
Hi matthias,
Yep, that's true! Incremental timecontrol works in the 6.0-version. Personally I don't really see the point of fixing the time-control in older versions: version 6 is better than all preceding ones. However, if you can provide me with good arguments to fix the oldies too, please let me know! If I have time, I will take your request in consideration.

Re: Brutus version 6.0 released
Hi Matthias,
I did a little hack of Brutus 5.4 , just prior to 6.0 release that works with
incremental time control. If you would like it, email me and I'll send it.
Jim.

Hi Stephan,
of 73 compelling reasons, here are 3 :
1) I want to have 1200 engines running in ChessGUI and so far only 1160 are installed and running.
2) Many people use old engines, not necessarily latest versions. Brutus 6.0 is too strong for my BigLion.
3) I am a fan of Shakespeare and want to have all the important guys of that famous ides of March.
Best,
Matthias.
timefix
Hi Mattias,
Very well, if I have some sparetime I will see what I can do. Unfortunately, I lost the source of the very first versions (up to v3.4). So I can patch v4.8 and v5.4. I will let you know when they are ready.
Regards Stephan
